Passion is about enthusiasm, fun, excitement, and joy.
Ideally, you will be passionate about many things in your life, especially what you are learning, where you are heading, and your friends. But don’t worry if you cannot pinpoint what you are passionate about yet.
Discovering your passion is about recognizing what it is that makes you excited. Once you have identified what you enjoy doing, prioritize your activities. Make what you like to do at least as important as the things you have to do.
Ideally, you can find a way to bring those passions into your education or your job. Even if you can’t, you still need to figure out what they are so you can incorporate them into your life in some capacity.
First, devoting some time each week to doing what you are passionate about can refresh you and relieve stress. They don’t have to be big things, they could just be reading a book, watching a movie, volunteering to help someone, listening to music, cooking, etc. Passions simply need to move or inspire you.
Second, if you know what you are passionate about, try to work those passions into everything else you do. Make one of your electives at school relate to your interests, start with jobs that involve your passions when you go looking for a part-time or summer job, and pursue newfound interests.
We all spend a lot of time doing what we are told to do or what we have to do and tend to put what we want to do on hold.
Don’t settle for a life without passion.
