students drop out of school every year, equivalent to the entire population of San Francisco. Unable to support themselves and uninterested in supporting their communities, these young people could easily be lost and forgotten.
WAVE builds the capacity of programs for youth at-risk. In the process, we create Social Leverage—so that every investment of time and resources is multiplied many times over. WAVE leverages its expertise by training the teachers and youth workers who in turn train youth. Youth leverage their energies by serving the community as a part of any WAVE program model. And WAVE leverages information about what is effective in other programs by sharing it freely and widely.
