Don has worked in the field of youth programming for nearly 30 years. He has developed and managed inner city youth programs and has been both an alternative school Principal and Program Leader at schools for students with emotional and learning disabilities. He holds a Masters of Education with emphasis in curriculum development/secondary education from Temple University. He has post graduate studies at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts in both Human Resource Development and Executive Management.
As a Senior Program Specialist at WAVE, a position he has held since 1980, Donald has provided technical assistance and training services to hundreds of educational and employability program sites nationwide. He leads workshops for both youths and adults, including youth leadership development and motivational training, program development, management and implementation, organizational development and staff capacity building, team building and team development, diversity, job-readiness, and job development/placement/retention issues. He has conducted professional development training sessions for the United States Department of Labor, Florida Department of Transportation, National Association for Blacks in Government, Boys and Girls’ Clubs of America National Conference, local Boys and Girls’ Clubs Teen Supreme sites nationwide, and The After School Corporation of New York City.
